2 weeks old!

My cheek is red because I pulled out my feeding tube!
GGrandma I am wearing your outfit!
Aren't I cute in the outfit my great grandma bought me??

Friday was Lorelei's 2 week birthday! She is now past her birth weight and weighs almost 3lbs 14oz. She still hates her feeding tube and has pulled it out multiple times. She has begun "non-nutritive" nursing where she is not breastfeeding, but getting the idea of what to do. They hope within a week she will be ready to breast/bottle feed with no more feeding tube! The Dr. already gave the OK to feed this way, but the nurses feel she's not entirely ready for the change. We agree. She is just about out of her incubator. She has about .5 degrees in the incubator to decrease before they lift the top and monitor her temperature. She is doing a great job of holding her temperature. And they are upping her feeds as she gains weight. Now she's getting 32ml (just over 1oz). Thats about it for now!

All clear!

We got the results of Lorelei's cranial ultrasound, and it's clear! She's now just a normal preemie baby just needing to develop eating skills, breathing, gaining weight, and maintaing temperature. So really it's just a waiting game! Here are some pictures. As of last night our little survivor started to wear clothes! We don't have great photos yet, but they will come. She looks so squishy and adorable in clothes!

The first time she has been held by anyone other than us! This is Grandpa Jeff :)

Me and mommy

Aren't you the cutest?

Slowly waking up

Mommy is making faces to mimic me...

Up to 1oz

So little Lorelei is up to eating about 28ml (about 1oz). I think my biggest question right now is, how much do babies eat?! I have rented the hospital pump and will continue to rent it until she is home and I'm only supplementing with pumping. Apparently the hospital breast pump is "industrial" and has a "Tim the tool man Taylor" motor in it, specifically designed for people who are only pumping. We have her head scan tomorrow and feel comfortable enough that the results are going to be normal, but we still would appreciate the prayers to help us accept any news.

Here are the most recent photos:)

She loves her daddy!

Already asleep on the job!

Can't keep my eyes off of you!

Yea, I'm making a face because I have gas...
Hey daddy, my belly is full and I'm getting sleepy!

Looking like Grammy Joan

So here are the most recent photos, from today. Right now she looks most like her Grammy Joan... :) I think she has her chin and she has my nose (what do you think?) Lorelei does not have her photo therapy anymore because her jaundice levels are low enough to not be of any concern. Monday we have her head ultrasound and then we're just waiting for results. They have upped her calories and feedings because she's tolerating it all so well. Enjoy the pictures! And feel free to check out our Snapfish photos that can be printed out at different locations!

First day without photo therapy!

I love her!

Day by Day

So our little lady has been progressing very well each and every day. She has been removed from all breathing assistance and is completely on her own. She has also lost her IV's and the only things left on her is the feeding tube and monitors. Her jaundice levels are decreasing each day and we expect to see the light removed within a day. She is eating well and began having BM's two days ago! She is a screamer!!! When she is hungry she will let everyone know, as well as if her diaper is poopy! Today was the first day Jared and I went in and had more of a mommy and daddy roll than a visitor. She was crying when we got in and after a little bit of trying to calm her we realized her diaper was dirty. We made her more comfy and she went right back to sleep. It felt really great walk in and take care of her instead of just sitting there! Lorelei looks like my mom (Joan). I have yet to get a great picture of her face, but once I do I will post it! Enjoy all the new pictures as they come! Our last huge hurtle is the head ultrasound on Monday to check to see if there is hemorrhages, so keep her in your prayers.

Daddy's moment

Today Daddy helped keep my calm when I had an echo to check my heart. I ripped out my CPAP and tore off my sunglasses. After the echo daddy changed my diaper with some assistance from the nurse and he also took my temperature. I ended up opening my eyes and just gazing at daddy for quite some time. We bonded and I know that I have daddy wrapped around my little fingers! As well as I could I focused on daddy, but I knew his touch and his love! Oh and mommy fed me through the tube, it was yummy!
